The oil paintings belonging to Mr. Godfrey ‘Mannheimer, which have been on view for some time at the Fifth Avenue Art Galleries, were sold by auction last night at Chicker- ing Hall. The collection included’ some ex- cellent examples of modern European art. The attendance was large and there was | considerable competition for some of the pic- é tures. .There was also a marked improve- ment in the prices realized compared with recent sales. The total amount of the sale was $85:290 for sixty-eight works. Toby Rosenthal’s “The Dancing Lesson” brought the highest price of the evening, $9,800. . Messrs.
