The volume was no doubt the inventor Blackman’s personal file as would be indicated by its containing the original pen and ink plans. The series of Lithographs, some in color, are very interesting. The inventor has had air ships printed in at vantage points on the litho- graph of the battle of Inkermann. AIso in the print of the Heroic Defense of Silistria; and the Bombardment of Sebastopol, and other battles. He pictures what could be accomplished in instances of shipwreck. Bone models were made by the French sailors who were captives _in England during the wars between England and France in the period of 1780-1790. The material used was the ordinary beef bone which was cut, polished and carved until the finished product was the beautiful models so much sought for now and of which there are so few perfect.
