The name of the organization shall be the United Sons and Daughters of the G. S. H. Temple. The names of the Officers shall be as fol¬ lows : 1. Grand Supreme Chief Ruler. 2. Grand Chief Ruler. 3. Grand Supreme Recording Queen. 4. Chief Ruler. 5. Past Chief Ruler. 6. Recording Chief. 7. Queen Ruler. 8. Past Queen Ruler. 9. Recording Queen. 10. Grand Queen Ruler. it. Deputy Chief. 12. Deputy Queen. 13. Holy Chief. 14. Holy Queen. 15. Inner Guard. 16. Outer Guard. 17. Supreme Medical Examiner. 18. Grand Chief Medical Examiner. (1). ft shall be the duty of the G. S. C. R. to have general oversight of the entire Order throughout its jurisdiction of America and set or approve all salaries or commissions for services rendered wherever same is necessary for the good of the Order. (2). It shall be the duty of the Grand Chief Ruler to instruct the Local Temples on parliamentary uses and to look after the sup¬ plies of badges and regalia, same to be fur¬ nished from the G. C. R. department, and shall keep a general record of all Subordinate Lodges and Temples, and their location and the names and addresses of their C. R. and R. C., also the Q. R. and R. Q., and shall de¬ liver general lectures to the Subordinate Tem¬ ples on the good of the Order. (3). It shall be the duty of the G. S. R. Q- to keep a complete record of all the Lodges and Temples and their location, and the num¬ ber of the lap or drop members from each Subordinate Temple and the financial members, and the amount of initiation fees paid, endow¬ ments and taxes. (4). It shall be the duty of the Chief Ruler of the Local Temole to preside over the Tem¬ ple of which he is elected, until his successor is elected. (5). It shall be the duty of the Past Chief Ruler to occupy the station to the right of the Chief Ruler and shall have the power to call the Temple to order and bring same to a close after the hour for closing" has ex¬ pired. (6). It shall be the duty of the Recording Chief to receive all the moneys, dues and fines of his Temple, keep an accurate account of the same, also too keep a record of all lapse and financial members and their standing and to report and turn over all moneys to the Treasurer at the close of each Lodge meeting, and take a receipt for the same. (7). It shall be the duty of the Queen Ruler of the Local Temple to preside over the Temple of which she is elected until her succssor is elected. (8). It shall be the duty of the Past Queen Ruler to occupy the station to right of the Queen Ruler, and shall have power to call the Temple to order and bring same to a close after the hour for closing has expired. (9). It shall be the duty of the Recording Queen to receive all moneys, dues and fines of her Temple, keep an accurate account of the same, also to keep a record of all lapse and financial members and their standing. Re¬ port and turn over all moneys to the Treasurer at the close of each meeting and take receipt for the same. (10). It shall be the duty of the Grand Queen Ruler to give leGtures to Subordinate — 3 — Temples ©n the good of the Order. (i_i). It shall be the duty of the Deputy- Chief and the Deputy Queen to see after the members of their Temple, to keep ordr during Temple hours and work up members into as¬ sociations to be set up in new Temples, and enlarge old Temples. (13). It shall be the duty of the Holy Chief to conduct devotional exercises of his Temple. (14). It shall be the duty of the Holy Queen to conduct devotional exercisesof her Temple. (15). It shall be the duty of the Inner Guard to take up the second half of the pass word. (16). It shall be the duty of the Outer Guard to take up the first half of the pass word. (17). It shall be the duty of the Supreme Medical Examiner to pass final decision on ap¬ plicants when necessary. (18). It shall be the duty of the Grand Chie'" Medical Examiner to pass on all appli¬ cants of- his district. BY-LAWS AND CONSTITUTION. Greeting you, Brethren— The U. S. and D. of G. S. H. T. has been or¬ ganized for purely charitable and benevolent purposes and for the protection of its mem¬ bers in case of distress, sickness and death. The U. S. and D. of the G. S. H. T. has for the main object the caring for the widows and orphans and educating of their children and Christianizing their lives in the name of Al¬ mighty God. ARTICLE I. Any person wishing to become a member of U. S. and D. of the G. S. T. may do so by passing a satisfactory examination and furn¬ ishing a doctor's certificate showing that they are in good and sound health ,and must possess moral and proper character. — 4 — ARTICLE IT. Ages from 10 to 55 years. Initiation^ fee- shall be $3.50; it may be reduced to $2.50 during dispensation. The fee must accompany the application or rather it must be paid before members will be iptitled to benefits or admitted to the Order and receive first degree, unless otherwise or¬ dered by the Grand Supreme Chief Ruler. Such members or applicants must be vouched for' by some brother or sister of the Order in good standing before such application will be received. ARTICLE III. SICK AND BURIAL BENEFITS. The amount of sick benefits shall not be loss than $;.50 nor more than $2.00, and burial benefits sh'ill not be less than $25.00 nor more than $35.00. ARTICLE IV. Any member of the Temple guilty of specu¬ lation for sick benefits or otherwise is sub¬ ject to expulsion upon .sufficient proof to their Temple and by the majority of the votes the Grand Supreme Chief Ruler may ex¬ pel members for any misrepresentation on immoral conduct, fighting, scandalizing any brother or sister, or for rebellion to the rules and By-Laws of the Temple,' if he sees lit. ARTICLE V. Such expelled member may be reinstated back to the Order, but they will be required to pay up all back dues and show just cause why they wish to join a Temple of another number, and they will be required to bring a clearance card signed by the C. R. and the R. C. or the Q. R. or R. Q. of said Temple. Or such member may be admitted to join other Lodge or Temple with a recommendation of a committee of three to wait on said Tem¬ ple of which the former member belonged with facts in hand showing members in good and financial standing from the previous Tern- pie which they belonged. ARTICLE VI. All members in good and regular standing with their Temple shall have the full rights and privileges of enjoying the meetings and Lodge of any sister Temple or Lodge in good standing, provided they are possessed with the proper pass word or satisfy such Temple they are in good standing, however they may be vouched f >r by any brother or sister of their Temple in good standing. ARTICLE VII. Any member may be given the proper pass word by the proper officer in the Temple Room, no brother or sister is allowed to give the pass word outside of their Temple Room. The pass word must' be renewed every three or six months or as often as the Grand Supreme Chief Ruler sees fit. Such pass word must be handed down from the G. S. C. R. and all grips and signs must be ordered by the G. S. C. R. ARTICLE VIII. The election of officers of the Subordinate Temples must be held at first regular meet¬ ing of every three months by a ballot of black and white balls. The same officers may be re-elected and installed if the majority of the members are in favor of it. The Su¬ preme Officers will be elected every three or five years by Executive Board of Supreme Temple. The G. S. C. R. is invested with the power of authority to call a Grand Lodge, appoint or expell any member or Local Or¬ der or Temple that is rebellious to his dicta¬ tion for the good of the order. The G. S. C. R. is also invested with the power to re¬ voke or call in the charter of the Local Tem¬ ple for non-payment of dues or on account of any rebellion. ARTICLE IX. In case of death each member shall be as- sessed one dollar each of their respective Tcm- of which the deceased member belonged, fifty cents for their Home Temple and fifty cents sent to the G. S. C. R., and is strictly required to turn out on a funeral occasion with badges or full regalia and white gloves, Each member is required to pay for uniform ;nid regalia at a reasonable cost—badges from 25c to $1.00. These supplies shall be fur¬ nished by the Supreme Lodge at the office of the G. C. R. ARTICLE X. The Chief Ruler and Queen Ruler of each Subordinate Temple may appoint as many members as they see fit to assist to look after the sick and as pallbearers or helpers on funeral occasions. Any member failing to re¬ spond to the order of the Chief Ruler or Queen Ruler 011 such occasion without a law¬ ful excuse, will ba fined not less than 50c nor more than $5.00. ARTICLE XI. Assessments for deaths and fines must be paid before any dues will be accepted. ARTICLE XII. Any brother or sister missing three regular meetings without a lawful excuse is subject to a line of not less than 25c. nor more than $1.00. ARTICLE XIIt. Any regularly elected officers being absent from their post of duty without a lawful ex¬ cuse will be fined not less than 50 cents nor more than $2.00—also may be expelled from their office. ARTICLE XIV. Any member having a grievance against a brother or sister should first take up the matter with the offending member or report such grievances to his or her Temple, also any brother mistreating his wife and family or any sister forsaking her husband without a lawful and good reason if members of the — 7 — Order, will be dealt with, and it will be • the duty of the Temple to exercise justice in settling such matter, and the party found guilty may be titled to the fullest ex¬ tent of the law or expelled. ARTICLE XV. I he monthly dues of each member of the Local Temple, shall be 25c a month, 15c endow¬ ment must be sent to G. S. C. R. -Such endow¬ ment must be sent the Endowment Depart¬ ment to the office of the G. S. C. R. on or before the 10th of each month without fail. Any 'JVtmple failing to get their endowment in to the G. S. C. R. by the 10th of each month will debar such Temple and members from the endowment benefits in case of death. All sick and burial benefits must be paid by each Local Lodge or Temple of which such member belongs. The Grand Temple tax shall be 20c., which shall be sent to the G. S. C. R. quarterly. ARTICLE XVI. The death benefit shall be $75.00 during the first year of membership and $100.00 there¬ after, to be paid from the Endowment Depart¬ ment by the G. S. C. R. to members of Tem¬ ples in good standing. The proof of death must be certified by the attending phy¬ sician, filed with the G. S. C. R. of the Endow¬ ment Department, signed by the C. R. and R. C. or Q. R. and R. Q., sealed with such Local Temple Seal. ARTICLE XVII. Xew Temples must be organized in clubs of ten or more by properly authorized officers with seals and authority from the G. S. C. R. G. S. C. R. will show concession to organize clubs of large numbers. Any member be¬ hind with their dues and assessment more than four regular weekly meetings are not entitled to benefits. Any Temple behind for 60 days with dues and endowments stands sus¬ pended, but may be reinstated to the Endow- merit Department upon the payment of $2.50 and satisfactory arrangement with the G. S. C. R., and an additional tax of 50c. will be levied on each member of such Local Temple and paid the G. S. C. R. for reinstatement. ARTICLE XVIII. Any member of the Local Temple must have taken three degrees before they can be elected as a-delegate to the Grand Supreme Temple. ARTICLE XIX. The hours for opening and Closing Temple during day session shall be 2:30 p. m.. nflt later than 3:30 p. m. and shall close at 4:30 p. m., not later than 5:30 p. m. The hours for open¬ ing and closing the Temple during the night session is 8:30 p. m„, not later than 9:00 p. m., and shall close not later than 11:30 p. m. Before the meeting can proceed to transact any further business after the hour of closing has expired, will have to be voted upon by the body and carried by the majority. In such cases the rule may be suspended. The Temples shall hold their regular meet¬ ings one evening or night every week or every two weeks. and shall set aside the second Sunday in June of each year for the purpose of holding annual sermon. Members are required to turn out on such occasions with their full regalia or badges as may be so instructed by the C. R. or Q. R. Worthy persons from 3 to 55 years of age may become honorary members of the Junior Department without a doctor's certificate when properly vouched for by a committee or a worthy member of the Temple in good stand¬ ing through their C. R. or R. Q- of the Tem¬ ple in their respective community Such ap¬ plication must be approved by the G. S. C. R. before such persons will be entitled to mem¬ bership in the Order. ARTICLE II. Members of Junior Department, in case of sickness shall receive not less than 50c nor more than $5.00 during their first 6 months if they are in good awd regular standing. In case of death of members of Junior Depart¬ ment shall receive not less' than $5.00 nor more than $50.00. Members are required to furnish doctor's certificate in case of sickness or death, unless otherwise ordered or vouched for in writing by the Sick Committee to the G. S. C. R., and must be approved by him. ARTICLE III. Members of the Junior Department are re¬ quired to meet at the Temple each week or their regular meeting time and place, and pay thir dues or assessments- or they must be represented by proxy to the office of the C. R. or the Q. R. ARTICLE IV. Members of the Junior Department behind with their dues for more than two or three regular weekly meetings, will not be entitled to benefits. Members of the Order are not allowed to let any one else see their financial membership book or By-Laws and Constitution with the exception of those who are members of the Society, and the Deputies, Grand and Supreme Deputies and such like officers. All deputies and officers of the Junior Department must be loyal to the instruction and orders given by the G. S. C. R. as if herein written. W. L.
