To the Senate and House of Representatives:
I herewith transmit for your consideration, a communication'
from the Secrefary of the Treasury, relative to certain transfers
of appropriations required in connection with the service of his
Department.

Sir: 1 have the honor to enclose herewith, (in duplicate) to be
submitted to Congress, a statement showing certain transfers of
appropriations required in connection with the service of this De-
partment. These transfers are necessary to meet expenditures
accruing under the head named, and accruing to the 31st of the
present month. It is desirable that early action be had in the
matter.

For compensation of clerks employed in detecting
persons employed in preparing and passing forg-
ed Treasury notes, 5,000 00
For travelling and other expenses incident to detect-
ing persons employed in preparing and passing
