 I herewith transmit a communication from the Secretary of War, 
 in further response to your resolution of the 5th instant, in reference 
 to claims for vessels seized for public use.

 Sir : A report of the claims presented to the^ Second Auditor for 
 vessels seized or employed by military authorities, was submitted, 
 in compliance to a resolution of the House of Representatives. The 
 Chief of Engineers was not prepared at that time to make a report. 
 His report is now enclosed.
