Sir: Your attention is directed to certain errors in the amended tax act of 1863, as printed in the digest of tax laws published in pamphlet form by this office. In section 10, page 9, the following words are erroneously inserted, and are not em- braced in the act as amended and approved on 17th day of Febru- ary, 1864, to wit: Commencing in the second line of section 10. the erroneous words are, *" after reserving for his own use fifty bushels of sweet potatoes and fifty bushels of Irish potatoes, one hundred bushels of the corn or fifty bushels of the wheat pro- duced in the present year:" and at the end of the last line at bot- tom of page 9, the word '/sweet,'' and in the beginning of the first line en pnge 10, the wovd "and," are erroneously inserted, a* sweet potatoes are not subject to the tax in kind under the act us it now stands. Then beginning in the seventh line from top same page, the words "after reserving twenty bushels of peas or beans, but not more than twenty bushels of both for his own use," are also erroneously inserted, and are not in the act as approve! and as it now stands on the statute book.
