 Sir : I have the honor to transmit to you estimates of an ap- 
 propriation -which Congress shouhi make to comply with the provis- 
 ions of the acts of that body, approved, respectively, May 21, 1861, 
 January 10 and February 6, 1862, and an act of the Virginia Legis> 
 lature, approved January 27, 1862, relating to Indian affairs.

 Serrdnry of War. 
 
 ESTIMATE OF APPROPRIATION necessary to comply with the 
 provisio7xs of certain acts of Congress, §*c., '> elating to Indian Affairs. 
 
 For interest, at six per cent., upon four hundred and fifty thou- 
 sand dollars of the Choctaw general fund, from January 1 st to July 
 1st, 1862, due by State of Virginia, which interest, by certain acts of 
 Congress and an act of the Virginia Legislature, was to be placed, 
 when due, by the authorities of said State, in the Treasury of the 
 Confederate States, in trust for said nation of Indians, thirteen 
 thousand five hundred dollars.
