 Sir: 
 
 In answer to the resolution of the House of Represent- 
 atives of the Confederate States requesting the Secretary of 
 the Treasury to u inform the House at what dates prior to 
 30th of June, 1863, payments of interest will be due on the 
 existing public debt, and also what amount of interest will 
 be due at each period of its maturity," I have the honor to 
 enclose a statement from the Register of the Treasury 
 giving the information desired. ,

 Sir : In compliance with the reference of the Resolution 
 of the House of Representatives of the 21st inst., (herewith 
 returned,) I have the honor to enclose a statement showing 
 at what dates prior to June 30, 1863, payments of interest 
 will be due on the existing public debt, and also what amount 
 of interest will be due at each period up to that time. The 
 calculation of interest has been made upon the basis, that 
 the entire amount of the Loans of May 16, and December 
 24, 1861, that were outstanding on the 22d inst., will con- 
 tinue unredeemed until July 1, 1863.
