 I herewith transmit for your consideration, a communication from 
 the Secretary of War, covering an estimate for a deficiency in the ap- 
 propriation for ordnance. 
 
 I recommend an appropriation of the amount, and for the purpose 
 specified.

 cy in the appropriation for the ordnance, with an explanatory letter 
 from the Chief of the Bureau.

 Sir : — I have the honor to submit herewith " Estimates of Funds,'* 
 for months of October and November, — amounting to $4,000,000. 
 
 This additional amount is rendered necessary, because the requisi- 
 tion of the Bureau was cut down from ($15,000,000) fifteen million 
 to ($11,500,000) eleven and a half million, on the last appropriation. 
 The amount of importations have, also, somewhat exceeded the 
 estimate. Very respectfully,
