 Sir: Please take notice that the first Installment, of the 
 assessment for the Draining- of this District, which is bounded in 
 front by the Mississippi river, in the rear by Lake Pontchartrain, 
 below by Julia street and the New Canal, and above by the Jef- 
 ferson Railroad, is now due and payable at this office. Bills not 
 paid by the first of July next, will be chargeable with interest at 
 the rate of 6 per cent, per annum, and subject to legal proceed- 
 ings, in accordance with an act of the Legislature, approved 
 March 1st, 1861.
