There is neither speech nor language; but their voices are heard among them. Their sound is gone out into all lands ; and their i^'ords into the ends of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun ; which Cometh forth as a bridegroom out of liis chamber, and rejoiceth as a giant to run his course. It goeth forth from the uttermost part of the heaven, and runneth about unto the end of it again ; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof. The law of the Lord is an undefiled law, con- verting the soul; the testimony of tlie Lokd is sure, and giveth wisdom unto the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, and rejoice the heart : the commandment of the Lokd is puie, and givetn light unto the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, and cndureth for ever; the judgments of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey, and the honey-comb. Moreover, by them is thy servant Uught ; and in keeping of them there is great rewaid. HEAR my law, O my people ; incline your ears unto the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable j I will declare hard sentences of old; 3 Which we have heard and known, and such as our fathers have told us; 4 That we should not hide them from the chil- dren of the generations to come; but to show the honour of the Lord, his mighty and wonderful works that he hath done. 5 He made a covenant with Jacob, and gave Is- rael a law, which he commanded our forefatheis to teach their children ; 6 That their posterity might know it, and the children which were yet unborn • 7 To the intent that when tliey came up, they might show their children the same; 8 That they might put their trust in God; and not to forget the works of God» but to keep his commandments; 9 And not to be as their forefathers, a faithless and stubborn generation; a generation tliat set not their heart aright, and whose spirit cleaveth not steadfastly unto God: 10 Like' as the children of Ephraim; who being harnessed, and carrying bows, turned themselves back in the day of battle. 11 They kept not the covenant of God, and would not walk in his law ; 12 But forgat what he had done, and the wonder- ful works that he had showed for them. Day 15. THE PSALTER. 13 Marvellous tliinj^s did he in tlie siijht of our Ibrc-tatliers, in the land of Egypt, even in tlie field of Zoan. 14 He divided the sea, and let them go through ; he made the waters to stand on an heap. 15 In the day-time also he led them with a cloud, and all the niglit through with a light of fire. IG He clave the hard rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink thereof, as it had been out of the great depth. 17 He brought waters out of the stony rock, so that it gushed out like the rivers. 18 Yet for all tliis they sinned more against him, and provoked the Most Highest in the wilderness. 19 They tempted God in their hearts, and re- quired meat for their lust. 20 They spake against God also, saying. Shall God prepare a table in the wilderness? 21 He smote the stony rock indeed, that the water gushed out, and the streams flowed withal ; but can he give bread also, or pro\dde flesh for his people ? 22 When the Lord heard this, he was wroth ; so the fire was kindled in Jacob, and there came up liea\'y displeasure against Israel ; 23 Because they believed not in God, and put not their trust in his help. 24 So he commanded the clouds above, and opened the doors of heaven. 25 He rained down manna also upon them for to eat, and gave them food from heaven. 21) So man did eat angels' food ; for he sent them meat enough. 27 He caused the east-A%ind to blow under heaven ; and tiirough his power he brought in the southwest- wind. 2iJ He rained flesh upon them as thick as dust, and feathered fowls like as tlie sand of the sea. 2y He let it fall among their tents, even round about their habitation. 30 So they did eat, and were well filled : for he gave them their own desire: they were not disappointed of their lust. 31 But while the meat was yet in their mouths, THE PSALTER. BY the waters of Bnbvlon we sat down and wept, when we remembered thee, O Sion. 2 As for our harps, we hanged them up upon the trees that are therem. 3 For they that led us away captive, required of us then a song, and melody iu our heaviness: Sing us one of the songs of Sion. 4 How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land? 5 If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. <> If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to tlie roof cf my mouth ; yea, if 1 prefer not Jeru- salem in my mirth. 7 Remember the children of Edom, O Lord, in the day of Jerusalem ; how they said, Down ivich it, down with it, even to the ground. 8 O daughter of Babylon, wasted with misery ; yea, happy shall he be that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. — — THE PSALTER. 9 Blessed shall lie be that taketh thy children, and tliroweth them against the stones. De- part from me, ye blood-thirsty men. 20 For they speak unrighteously against thee; and thine enemies take thy Name in vain. 21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee ? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against t)uc ? __ DAT 29.
