 additional appropriations therein mentioned.

 Sir : — I have the honor to submit through you to the 
 Congress, the following estimate of additional appropriations 
 required by this Department, in consequence of recent legis- 
 lation : 
 
 1 . For bounty and transportation, or for com- 
 
 mutation thereof, for 150,000 men, un- 
 der the act providing for re-enlistment 
 of twelve months' men, as per enclosed 
 statement of Quartermaster General, 
 fourteen millions, seven hundred thou- 
 sand dollars, $14,700,000 
 
 2. For expenses under the act for recruiting, 
 
 recently passed, one hundred and fifty 
 
 thousand dollars, 150,000 
 
 3. For salary of Assistant Secretary of War 
 
 to 1 st April next, eight hundred dollars, 800 
 
 Total, $14,850,800 
 
 Fourteen millions, eight hundred and fifty thousand, eight 
 hundred dollars.
