 PRAYER. 
 
 Almighty God, the sovereign disposer of events, 
 it hath pleased Thee to protect and defend tlie 
 Confederate States hitherto, in their conflict with 
 their enemies, and be unto them a shield. 
 
 With grateful thanks we recognize Thy hand, 
 and acknowledge that not unto us but unto Thee 
 belongeth the victory; and in humble dep-^- ^'^^ice 
 upon Thy Almi^^ §J|^gth, and trustittii '.^n the 
 justness of our cause, we appeal to The j^i it 
 may please Thee to set at nauglit the efFor .^IJ all 
 our enemies, and put them to confusion and s' 'me. 
 
 Almighty God, we pray Thee that it, : .^y 
 please Thee to grant us Thy blessing upon ^^x 
 arms, and give us victory over all our enemies, 
 wherever they may be. 
 
 Preserve our homes and altars from pollution, 
 and secure to us the restoration of peace and pros- 
 perit}^ ; all of which we ask in the name of Jesus |J«r/ 
 Christ our blessed Lord and Saviour, to whom 
 with Thee, the Father and the Holy Ghost, we 
 will give all the praise and glory in time and
