BILL To be entitled An Act to provide for auditing and paying for horses and equipments taken from dismounted cavalrymen for the use of the Government. 1 Whereas, Cavalrymen of the army of the Confederate States 2 have been dismounted and their horses appropriated to the use 3 of the Confederate States government, and no provision has 4 been made for the payment thereof, 1 Be it therefore enacted by the Congress of the Confederate States 2 of .America, That in every case where a cavalryman has been 3 dismounted and his horse or equipments, or either, has been 4 taken for the use of the Confederate States, the owner of said 5 horse and equipments shall be paid, out of any money appropri- 6 ated therefor, the value of said horse and equipmer.ts at the 7 time they were so taken, upon proof of their value and owner- 8 ship, when the claim therefor has been audited and allowed by $ the proper officer for that purpose, under such rules and rogula- 10 tioES as the Quartermaster General Bhall prescribe. ?^,; i^r P€RmaliP6« pH8.5
