Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the 2 State of North- Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the 3 authority of the same, That the Governor be authorized 4 to appoint agents, at a fixed compensation, to purchase 5 corn, rice, bacon, and other provisions, and have the same 6 transported for safe keeping to such points as he may 7 select. Sec. 2. Be it enacted. That the provisions thus purchased 2 be sold to the families of those engaged in the military 3 service of their country, and to the poor, at prime cost 4 and expenses. Sec. 3. Be it enacted. That the Railroad Companies be 2 requested to afford every facility within their power for 3 the transportation of the provisions purchased. Sec. 4. Be it enacted^ That a sum not exceeding two 2 hundred thousand dollars be appropriated for the purpose 3 of carrying out the provisions of this bill. .
