J* 7¥5* Duke University Libraries Postscript : Conf Pam q#145 POSTSCRIPT. Recruiting and Reorganization of Twelve Months' Companies. I. By Act of Congress, approved January ~~<, 1862, the right t.) These Recruits are entitled to pay, transportation and subsistence from the time ami place of enlistment, and to the bounty of 50 dollars, payable at the time of joining their Companies. The original Volunteers iu these Companies re-enlisting for two years or the war. as already provided, may re-enlist in the Companies to be thus recruited, and at the expiration of the original 12 months' term, the several Companies thus recruited and re-enlisted shall elect their Company Officers, and may reorganize themselves into new Battalions or Regiments; or it' in all the Compa- nies in any Battalion or Regiment the number of recruits and re-enlisted men shall be sufficient to form new Companies, such Battalion or Regiment maybe reorganized, and its original designation remain unaltered, the Field Officers being elected in all such cases, as provided by the Regulations. But it' the number of recruits and re-enlisted men in any Company shall be less than the minimum required for a Company, they may combine with others in like situation to form new Companies, or, in default thereof may be assigned or distributed to other Companies from the game Siate. The Regulations in regard to recruiting for 12 months' Companies, as above provided, as well as for re-enlisted Companies and all Companies now in service for the war, as provided in the above Circular, and the Regulations in regard tore-enlistment, have been published in General Orders for the information of the Army, and may be obtained from the Adjutant General.
