 A^ BILL 
 
 To be entitled an act to provide for the payment of officers acting 
 under temporary appointment from the commander of any depart- 
 ment, corps, division or brigade. 
 
 1 The Congress of ike Cotifedcra'c States of America do enacty That 
 
 2 any officer doing duty, either on the staff or in the line, under 
 
 3 temporary appointment from the commander of any department, 
 
 4 corps, division or brigade in the Provisional Army of the Con- 
 
 5 federate States, shall receive the same pay, for the time such 
 
 6 person may have been actually engaged in service under such 
 
 7 appointment, from the disbursing quartermaster of such depart- 
 
 8 ment, corps, division or brigade, or from the disbursing <i[uar- 
 
 9 termaster in the city of Richmond, as if such person had been

 10 regularly commissioned by the proper authority : Provided, 
 
 11 That before said payment, the person applying therefor shall file 
 
 12 with the quartermaster the certificate of the commanding officer 
 
 13 of the department, corps, division or brigade in which the appli- 
 
 14 cant may have served, stating his temporary rank and time of 
 
 15 service, and the affidavit of the party applying, before some 
 
 16 judge or justice of the peace, verifying said certificate.
