 By rcprnwntflfions from Rcvnral County Courts, it appears that there is a great discn-panry 
 between the statements of the Cdtirts and the statement furnished tlie Governor by Captain Sfanard of 
 the Confederate States Engineer Department, relative to Slaves called for to work on the public defences. 
 In consequence of this di.scrc]»ancy, tin- Ciovcrnor requests that the several County Courts will cause 
 liim to be furnished, as speedily as possible, with a full and correct statement of all such requisitions 
 for Slaves made and complied with, and the authority upon which each requisition was based, and that 
 a copy thereof may lie transmitted to Captain Stanard. 
 
 The Governor desires tlie data asked for, to enable him to avoid errors nd inequalities in future; 
 but as the late call is urirent, it is not to be aflect<*d by the delay necessaiy to obtain the information 
 now solicited.
