 Remarks. — This addiiional appropiiiUion will be needed to pay for 
 ordnance and ordnance s ores purchased abroad, which are now arri- 
 ving more freely than was anticipated when my 1 ist estimate was 
 made, and will he rendered necessary by the additional force to be 
 thrown into the field. Fifty thousand iulditional arms will be ordered 
 at once ; this item alone will amount to fully a million of dollars.
