Reports of the Pastor and Stewards of Ruffin Circuit MoE. Church, South, for 1901. c.237.G BkKNL SYA ws' Trinity College Historical Society Collection Trinity College Library Durham, N. C. : SPI TL Sere Pewee ee ce ae Oe ea eee L, UZ Ircul ~ |. Church, South, lf C . 4 Li Western North Carolina Conference, MAYO & SMITH'S PRINT, REIDSVILLE; N. C, Ruff REPORTS OF THE PASTOR AND STEWARDS OF RUFFIN CIRCUIT, M, E. CHURCH, SOUTH, FOR 1901. To the Methodists of Ruffin Circuit: By the mercy of God we are permitted to offer you the following report. We, as a church, had hoped that we should have had greater success in all the work of the church during the year, than ‘is here shown. Nevertheless, we have great cause for thanksgiving, There were eleven additions to the church on profession of faith in Christ; and oth- ers who have not yet joined the church have declared , their adherence to Him and their hope in His name, Only three of our number died, and these leit behind them a testimony to the power of religion to sustain | in death. Many of our members have renewed their -yows to God, and are more attentive to their duty- Our congregations have grown. Our churches are in peace, There is a spirit of hopefulness that did not _ exist ayear ago. Our finances show a decided growth. , The conference collections were more than paid, and there was an increase in the amount paid the minis. try. Let us thank God for so good a report, and re- _ solve that 1902 shall show a better one. 9 “i \ This report is full and detailed, for it is the opin- ion of your official board that itis your desire and your right to have this information; as itis our duty and pleasure to give it to you. Lack of interest in the church is often due to want of knowledge of its aims and achievements. Every member should know who are the members and officers of the chureh, who have joined, and who have left it, Every supporter has the right to know how his money has been ap- plied. And every steward and collector has aright to demand an inspection of his books. All these things are obtained in this report, We know no other way to do all this than by showing the con- tributions of each member, This method has the additional merit of giving opportunity to find any mistakes that may have been made. We trust that the reading of this record may stir us all up to great- er effort for our church and for the great Head of the chureh, OUR AIMS FOR 1902. A revival in every church. Daily worship in every family. Larger congregations every Sunday. A contribution from every member. We cannot have these without your assistance. May we not count on your help? WE NEBR A new church at Ruffin, A new roof at Lowes. New benches at Peniel. Shall we lave them? What will you do? 3 OFFICIAL ROLL OF RUFFIN CIRCUIT Rey. JAMEs R.Scroccs, Presiding Elder. Rev. Cuas.
