COTTAGE AT NIAGARA OWNED AND OCCUPIED BY MRS. L. M. CORNELL, OF NIAGARA FALLS, N. Y. This region has long been noted for the health and longevity of its inhabitants and its freedom from pulmonary, bronchial and other diseases. The trees grow to a great height in the open forest and give out a balsamic odor that one instinctively feels to be a tonic. No town in the Sand Belt has such perfect natural drainage as NIAGARA. The water is soft and pure. The soil is sand to a depth of from 60 to 150 feet, insuring perfect drainage and filtration of the water. After a heavy rain the surface is almost immediately dry, the soil quickly absorbing any amount of water that may be TIA GAONGAV LOASILIANNOD WONT HLAON DNIMOOT VUVOVIN AO M poured upon it. For this reason the atmosphere is also dry and there can be no possibility of malarial or miasmatic conditions. The climate is equable and balmy, the invigorating, aromatic odor of the pine trees has the bracing effect of the clear, dry cold of the north, with none of its discomforts. NIAGARA was opened in November, 1902 and about 400 lots sold the first season ; a railroad station, hotel and several cottages built. A post office has been established and telephones put in connecting NIAGARA with Pinehurst, So. Pines and other surrounding towns. A water system of 15,000 gallons capacity daily with high pressure is being put in and will be ready for use the coming Luving Room Chamber £ fe} LY roe £ 2 Q Zt E © Kifechen FLOOR PLAN OF COTTAGE DESIGNED FOR NIAGARA.—SEE ELEVATION ON PAGE 5 “Poston: /\as5° "A: COT TAGE: DLAN: *FOR: NIAGARA: N’G ‘dohn Tilton: M\cCintock:Architect= season. Other improvements which have been planned for the comfort and pleasure of the residents will be pushed forward as rapidly as possible. We heve no consumptives at NIAGARA—everything is new and clean — and the health and happiness of the residents and guests within its borders will be carefully guarded and their interests always the first consideration of the management. A SIGH FOR THE SUNNY SOUTH. There’s a hint of winter coming In the frosty evening air, And my thoughts are roaming Southward, Where the skies are warm and fair. And when autumn tints the forest And I long for feathery pinions With its glowing red and gold, Like the birds, to fly away Then I sadly sigh and shiver, From the cold and dreary Northland, Thinking of the winter’s cold.
