 In presenting this Catalogue to our patrons, we would beg leave to

 Purchasers unacquainted with the different varieties of plants, leaving 
 the selection with us, — stating the sum they wish to expend, and the 
 object they wish to effect, — may depend upon receiving the best sorts

 In affixing prices to the various, classes and varieties, it is difficult to 
 always give the exact price, as the sizes vary, so we give only a price 
 that will insure a good, strong, healthy plant and a first-class variety. It 
 is our aim to deal in only the very best varieties. 
 
 Orders. — Parties ordering will please use the “ Order Sheet,” 
 
 which will greatly facilitate their execution. If mixed up in the body 
 of the letter, mistakes are almost unavoidable.

 delivered in Lowell, and shipped or forwarded according to directions,

 Hollyhock. This variety resembles a Hollyhock very much. Its extended front 
 guard, or outer rounded petal, stands out beyond the double-rosette centre 
 petals ; brilliant scarlet, shaded yellow ; a double guinea. 
 
 Joyful Improved. Individual flowers and trusses ; very large and fine, and is 
 what its name implies ; soft magenta, with a distinct edging of orange-scarlet. 
 
 Lady Reed. A grand improvement in oculated varieties; pure white, with a 
 large, scarlet centre ; shape and size of petals almost equal to the scarlet 
 section. 
 
 La Cygne. • 
 
 Lord Derby. So large and bright, both pip and truss, that at first sight it looks 
 like one huge mass of fiery pink. 
 
 Mrs. Bowen. A beautiful blush-color, distinct and pleasing ; dwarf, bushy habit. 
 
 Mrs. Robertson. Very free and dwarf, flowers and trusses large ; bright rose-
