ORCHIDS 
 
 ONCE UPON A TIME everybody had to pay 
 a high price'for any kind of an Orchid. This was 
 before we came into the field. Not many of them 
 were sold anyhow. 
 
 WITH THE ADVENT OF OUR DIRECT 
 IMPORTATIONS .conditions changed. Perhaps 
 you do not realize what this change has meant. 
 Prices went down of course. Everybody knows 
 that. Others had to come down to compete with 
 new conditions. But why — did you ever stop 
 to think? 
 
 THE FACT . Plants were within the reach of 
 everybody’s pocketbook. Orders poured in from 
 all over the country. Down came the price again. 
 
 THE WAY IT WAS DONE. Long experience 
 in importing each variety, collected in large quant- 
 ities, by thoroughly experienced collectors. 
 
 NATURALLY ENOUGH the grower saw . 
 the disadvantage to himself of buying plants 
 from his competitors, thereby furnishing them 
 with stock for nothing, to compete with him in 
 flowers shipped to his own market later. Now 
 he gives his orders to the direct importer and non- 
 competitor. 
 
 THE RESULTS. All growers pay the same 
 price. A tremendous volume of business. More 
 than doubled every year. Prices kept down to 
 minimum. Stock quality kept up to the maximum 
 with equal value to all. Early or all advance 
 orders filled at the best time. More rare specimens 
 among the trade than ever before. 
 
 MANY VARIETIES are collected before the 
 grower decides. Our annual supply for this trade 
 of semi-established plants we will close out now 
 to make room for the flood of importations in the 
 Spring. Nothing will be carried over except orders 
 to be delivered at that time for the convenience
