ON THE WORKING OF THE LODGE FOR THE YEAR 1896, Beetheen, Following in the foot-steps of my predecessor in the Chair, I have given the report of the proceedings of the year in a short diary-form of the proceedings at each meeting, and this brief record, with the Appendices following, really exhausts the subject and renders a lengthy report unnecessary. All the Regular Meetings were held, viz., seven in Rawalpindi and five in Murree ; the average attendance has, I regret to state, been much lower than in the four preceding years, but, considering that out of our total of 65 members, only 14 reside in Eawal Pindi or Murree, the average attendance may be considered to be fairly good. The following statement shows, in detail, the Meetings held, the work done and the number of Members present. During the year the Lodge gave Es. 450 in Charity, viz., Es. 400 to the P. M. I., and Es. 50 to the Widow of the late Bro. Longfield. In addition to this our P. M. I. Steward, (Bro. K. Dingwall) collected Es. 851 from Members and friends, vide Appendix A. Since the foundation of the Lodge in 1881, our Stewards have collected Es. 22,874 for the P. M. I., of which sum the Lodge has subscribed Es. 7,033 the balance being donations from Members and Well-wishers. To our Steward, Bro. K. Dingwall, our best thanks are due for his energy on behalf of the Lodge. 4. A copy of the balance Sheet for the Half-year ending December 31st 1896, is given in Appendix H. The amount shown as due from members, although much reduced since last years report, is much larger than it ought to be, and I would ask brethren to bear in mind that all dues are payable in advance. The Lodge Property, Eegalia, Library, etc., valued at Es. 3,000 is not shown as an Asset in the Accounts. 5.
