Forinsic service. — Service performed out of the manor in which are situate the lands for which the service is due. It may be due from a tenant either to his own lord or to a lord paramount. Falcate. — One day's mowing of grass. Heriot. — OriginaJly the tribute from a tenant to his lord towards pre- paration for war, ordinarily the best beast or other chattel of a tenant which in some manors the lord had a right to take at his tenant's death. Haybote. — The right to take wood necessary for making hedges. Leasowe. — A pasture ground. Meese. — A messuage or dwelling-house; a mead, field, or pasture. Native. — One bom a slave. Obit. — Office for the dead ; also the anniversary office. Pannage. — The food that swine feed on, as mast of oak and beech. Pessona. — Mast of oaks, &c., or the money taken for mast or feeding of hogs. Pleck. — A small inclosure or field. Quarteroun. — The fourth part of an acre.
