SMITH, Jr. PRIVATELY PUBLISHED NEW YORK 1906 Digitized by Microsoft® The edition of this rriced Lincoln 7 ea Lir Bibliography is 15 Large Paper Copies, Lettered 250 Ordinary Edition, Numbered This copy is No of Ordinary Edition COPYRIGHT, 1906, BY WILLIAM H. SMITH, JR. Digitized by Microsoft® PREFACE Six years have passed since the very excellent Lincoln Bibli- ography compiled by Daniel Fish was issued, and during that time many additional items have been uncovered, some of great rarity. Bibliographies are always of value, and it seemed to me that a "priced " bibliography of Lincolniana would possess a special value to all who were interested in " The Martyr President, " With very few exceptions the prices here given are actual prices fetched at auction^ by far the larger portion of them during the past year ; so that the record of prices may be considered "up-to-date." The alphabetical arrangement by Author has been followed where Author's name appeared ; and alphabetical arrangement by title where publication was anonymous. Exception to this latter plan has been made where the pamphlet is better known under a catch-word ; and cross references have been made which I trust will enable the searcher to find promptly the item he is looking for. 1 have added a " Miscellaneous" division, comprising Broadsides, Music, Periodicals, Relics, etc., which would not properly be classed with the main bulk of Lincoln Literature, but interesting to the collector. No attempt has been made to gather the numerous magazine articles on Lincoln. I trust the value to you will be equal to my pleasure in com- piling this work. Wm. H.
