I hcse lilt's are mabe by Messrs. Minton, Hottins h, Co., of Stafforbshire, England ; anb are of two kinbs, Encaustic or Intaib, anb Plain or Paving Tiles. The Plain 1 iles are of various si^es, the largest being squares of six by six inches, ant) octagons of nearly six anb a quarter inches. II bey are of iwo thicknesses, half inch anb one inch, the former of which is strong enough for alt floors excepting those of warehouses, uCc. The usual colors are Buff, met), Black, IBrab, Chocolate, Blue ant) White ; ant) the shapes are Squares, Octagons, Hexagons anb their bivisions ; so that infinite changes may be mabe in the patterns. Each II ile is of one color, which extends entirety through. II He Intaib H iles are om inch thick, ant), excepting some borders nearly alt are six by six inches. They are mabe by filling inbentations in the unburnt II ile with the besireb colors, anb burning the whole together. IThus the figures are not merely painteb on the surface, like those of the II iles of Continental Europe, but are intaib io a certain bepth in the boby of the II ile. I here is a great variety in the patterns, anb the colors are Buff, Blue, White, Heb, Pink, ween, Chocolate, Black, &c. Both Plain anb Intaib Tiles are uscb for Vestibules, Malls, Libraries, lining Booms, Mcarths anb Conserva- tories in the best I!?wel(ino,s in all parts of the country ; anb in Churches, Banks, Stores, &c, in every principal City.
