JANUARY 5 to JANUARY 24, 1909 ALBERT STERNER was born in London, England, of American parents, and received some early art instruction in King Edward's School in Birmingham. While a lad he came to America, and attended the Art Institute of Chicago in 1881-2-3. He became an illus- trator for " Life " and " Harper," and later studied paint- ing in Germany, and in France with Boulanger, Lefebvre, and Gerome. He has exhibited and received medals and prizes in the Paris Salons, the Expositions in Paris, the Pan American Exposition, etc. He has done much serious illustrative work for the Century, Harper's, and Scribner's.
