Mrs. Tuttle, who was formerly of this city, began her artistic training under Jose- phine Cochrane, and later studied at the Yale School of Fine Arts. Her development into this colorful, decorative manner has been a personal achievement, however. He studied under William Chase and Kenyon Cox. Award: Silver medal, Panama-Pacific Exposition, 1915. He is represented in the Permanent Collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Newark Museum. The art of George Alfred Williams, as revealed in his symbolic decorations, has a fusion of mind and spirit. In the exquisite beauty of these delicate miniatures to achieve sublimity in small space, to know and believe that the colossal itself cannot convey emotion, has been his realized ambition. 52 The Drama of Life — Daughters of Man 53 The Drama of Life — The Pilgrimage 54 The Drama of Life— The Plague 55 The Drama of Hell— The Forest of Souls 56 The Drama of Hell— The Black Pit 57 The Traders 58 Stilling the Tempest 59 Temptation 60 The Wanderers 61 Tragedy 62 The Martyrs 63 The Monk 64 The Master 65 Ivory Towers 66 Soubrette 67 Brown Harmonies 68 The Golden Glow 69 The Hunters 70 Arabia — Fantasy 71 The Idol 72 The Witch 75 Sea Surge 74 February 75 Winter 76 The New Moon 77 Grey Mist 78 Sea Fight 79 October Afternoon — West Wind 80 October — Afternoon Glow 81 After the Shower — Kennebunkport 82 Summer Squall — Maine Coast 83 Gentle Surf — Ogonquit 84 Moonrise — Ogunquit River Inlet 85 September Twilight 86 Evening Star 87 Sunset 88 October 89 The Sea 90 Twilight 91 October Glow 92 Sunset on the River 93 Fall Evening 94 The Sad Sea 95 High Sea — Cape Porpoise, Maine 96 Early Spring 97 The River Bend 98 The Upland 99 October 100 Soft November 101 September Afternoon 102 Two Gulls 103 Moonrise in October 104 The Woodlot 105 Coming of November PAINTINGS BY SEVEN AMERICAN ARTISTS Sidney E.
